Life across the sea
Waterfall on Big Island, where we visited this weekend. We had an amazing trip, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen/done that much in just 36 hours before. We flew to the island early saturday morning, and when we got there, we drove around and checked out the great diversity; Big Island has everything from grassy hills and snowy mountains, to movie-like waterfalls and rocky volcano sites. After spending the whole day in a volcano park, where we even saw lava flowing into the water after sunset (it’s like watching an explosion in slow motion) we sat out camp near a beach and had a barbeque with the most awesome hot dogs ever. It was a bit scary in the night though, because I had used my active imagination to compare our camping location with all kinds of terrible horror-movies.. But luckily, we survived the night.

We got up early the next morning and did a day of cave-walking, beach-sightseeing and waterfall-swimming. The thing I liked the best was the time spent in a natural thermal bath, next to the ocean. It was the best experience! The water was really hot, because the saltwater from the sea was mixed with water from the volcanoes, and the coolest thing was that you could open your eyes under water without the slightest bit of pain! Aaaw, I miss that place allready… But when we flew home sunday evening, we were exhausted, and it was nice to get back home to the residence. Even today, I feel tired…but it was worth it, of course ;)
